Why we need you

Our engineering team of 8 has been built by our Founder, Maitham (ML Engineer from Babylon Health) who cares deeply about building a world class engineering culture (read more here). We’re now in scaling mode, revenue has x6’d in the last year and we’re connecting millions of patients via our platform so it’s a perfect time for a Head of Engineering.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and growing the team: Hiring exceptional engineers, setting them up for success and supporting them to do their best work so that the product roadmap is delivered in the most impactful way possible for our customers

  • Help the team to deliver product: Working with Boris and the engineering team to make sure product progress is on track and challenges are discussed early to protect engineering time

  • Remaining technical: Given our size, you’ll be partnering with technical leads and engineers on granular technical decisions, reviewing PR’s and RFCs, unblocking issues and being involved in solving some of the hardest problems in healthcare

  • Strengthen our engineering culture: Work with our engineers to champion strong engineering practices; encourage knowledge sharing; develop communication guidelines and encourage ownership and autonomous working

Who you are and what learned skills you have

  • Motivations: You are completely passionate about fixing healthcare. Experience working in the healthcare, especially in the US is a nice to have.

  • Technical skills: 5+ years engineering experience. This is a highly technical engineering leadership role, getting into the weeds with engineers. You’ve built products for millions before at a startup to scale up with a strong engineering culture. Python & Go are our main languages, but it’s not required to be fluent in it

  • People-first management: a few years in a engineering management role during fast headcount growth, with a remote-first team. You have managed over 6+ engineers. You’re a coach, you have high trust in your team and know how to grow and hire engineers

  • Team leadership: you have experience leading an engineering team. You know what it takes to deliver a product roadmap in the most efficient, impactful way and putting into process to strengthen strong engineering practices

  • Behavioural interview: 60 mins with Maitham and Boris

  • Pair programming: 80 mins (+ 15 minutes get to know)

  • System Design: 60 mins (+ 15 minutes get to know)

  • Leadership and Team Management: 60 mins with Maitham & Aditya

How you’ll be compensated

  • We will benchmark your salary based on your location and experience.

  • Your salary is dependant on your location and experience level, generated by our salary calculator. Our compensation is based on San Francisco as a location paying 50th percentile. More information is in our handbook here.

  • Generous early stage options (extended exercise post 2 years employment) - you will receive 3 offers based on how much equity you'd like

  • Regular in person offsites, last were in Morocco and Tenerife

  • Bi-weekly team happy hours & events remotely

  • Monthly learning budget of $300 for personal development/productivity

  • Flexible, remote-first working - including $1K for home office equipment

  • 25 days off a year + national holidays
