- Charlotte Vermandel shared thisI'm very honored to have been invited as a speaker at la Tech pour Toutes, a conference about women in tech. I have had the pleasure to meet so many inspiring journeys of women in tech. The conversion of former barmen, lawyers, professors. How they succeeded even when some were caring for children alongside. The tech world is still mostly a man's world. We still have to battle to find our place, to convince ourselves that we belong just as much as anyone else. La Tech pour Toutes has a clear message about that. If you have the slightest feeling that tech is something you might like: 👉 Try it 👉 Do not shy away 👉 Give yourself the blind confidence that you can succeed 👉 Give yourself the opportunity to decide if you like it or not I had the chance to try it out at 42 Paris and it completely changed my life. When I finished 42, I felt like I truly belonged. Thanks so much to Sophie Viger for her dedication to convincing so many women and making them feel welcome. Thanks so much to 42 Paris for giving me the label that companies trust even without having any high school diploma. - Charlotte Vermandel shared thisI'm so thrilled to share this news. Tl;dr: The startup I joined just raised 3 Million with Point Nine ✨ 4 months ago I joined a startup, named Tengo, as a founding engineer. Tengo aims to help all companies, from the smallest to the biggest ones, win public tenders. I wanted to join them because I deeply believe in this project, and its positive value on all businesses. My personal goal is for even the smallest companies to be able to win public tenders and with that help them grow to become big companies. Before Tengo, unless a company had a dedicated team spending a lot of time looking through many public market websites, and I mean a lot, then using even more time to read through hundreds of megabytes of documents, and then putting in a lot of effort to prepare a bid response, small companies really had little to no chance of winning them. With our aggregations of all the public tenders from all these public market websites, and our AI tools designed to help you comprehend and respond to tenders, Tengo is a game changer for everyone. I'm excited to share that I'm not the only one excited about this project. Point Nine shares our vision too, and they've invested 💰 3 million 💰 to help us grow our project. With Kenza Yahiaoui, Nathan Madidi, Xavier M., Hugues Renou and Yoann Gauthier, I believe we can achieve great things 😊 Thanks to the whole Hexa team that helped us get here ❤️...more

Yes that's a bit crazy but hey. The mix of realising the world is not the same anymore (in a big way), the opportunity of being on the very cutting edge of an incredible new technology, and my new venture Soulware taking off where I get to use this daily, has resulted in a few learnings. I'd like to share some of them. I've built and used dozens of "skills". They are custom instructions you can reuse that Claude follows every time. Here are the top 3 I use 95% of the time: 1. /cleanup I end every (real) session with this. It stores what went well and what didn't, so Claude knows for next time. It updates Nexus, our custom project management tool. It cleans up the code and makes sure next steps are stored. It basically makes sure every session builds on the last. Every session leaves things better than before. 2. /pro I'm not a developer and there is a steep learning curve to this. So I built a skill with the best practices from the most advanced Claude Code users I could find, including "classic" software development. When in doubt, I invoke /pro and ask what the right move is. The side effect is that I learn insanely fast now. It's like having a senior dev coach by your side. 3. /superpowers For any big chunk of work. It includes brainstorming, planning, execution and code review. It does the structuring so I can focus on what I actually want to build. Before this, big tasks were heavy and scary. Now I just invoke /superpowers and start. Skills compound. Claude gets better every session because it remembers what works and what doesn't so you're not starting from scratch each time.

We run thousands of Meilisearch instances on our Cloud with no issues – how bad could it be? Pretty bad, actually. What followed was weeks of jemalloc profiling, an AI agent finding (and hallucinating) bugs, a bumpalo trap that had been silently leaking memory for 1.5 years, and eventually discovering an option to make LMDB and Meilisearch use the same allocator. The fix was switching to mimalloc v3. The result was better than expected – lower memory usage, real performance gains, and a cleaner engine to keep improving. I wrote the full story. It's a bit of a rabbit hole, but if you've ever debugged memory in a production Rust + C system, I think you'll enjoy it. https://lnkd.in/eA8c4s-kThe good, the bad, and the leaky: jemalloc, bumpalo, and mimalloc in MeilisearchThe good, the bad, and the leaky: jemalloc, bumpalo, and mimalloc in Meilisearch

Most governments require documents in OpenDocument Format. Until now, JavaScript developers had no good way to generate them. Over 20 countries mandate ODF (ISO 26300) for government documents — Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Brazil, India, and more. It's the ISO standard for editable documents, and it exists specifically so citizens aren't locked into proprietary software. But if you're a JavaScript developer who needs to generate .odt files, your options have been rough: → Spin up a 500MB LibreOffice headless instance → Pay for a proprietary module on top of an open-source library → Use a library that was abandoned in 2021 → Manually unzip, edit XML, and re-zip I built odf-kit to fix this. It's a free, open-source TypeScript library that generates proper .odt files — server-side in Node.js or client-side in the browser. Zero runtime dependencies. Create documents from code or fill existing templates with data. No LibreOffice installation. No paid modules. No Docker images. Works in serverless, edge, and browser environments. I built it because non-profits, governments, and community organizations shouldn't need expensive tooling just to generate documents in an open standard format. Apache 2.0 licensed. Available on npm today. https://lnkd.in/gBVBC4rQ #OpenSource #ODF #JavaScript #TypeScript #GovTech #DigitalSovereignty #OpenDocumentFormat #DocumentGeneration

You don’t need to work more. You need a workflow. The highest-leverage founders I know? They’re not working more hours. They’ve just built better systems. They: → Write content in batches → Reuse assets across channels → Set rules for what gets their time → Only build things that can be reused or delegated They’re not “on” all day. They’re strategic with their effort. Productivity without structure is just fake hustle. Want your time back? Here’s the formula: 🛠 Build once ♻ Repeat often 📤 Automate what’s predictable 👥 Offload what’s not your zone of genius You don’t need 3 more hours. You need 1 better system. 🚀 Symfony + API Platform = Clean, Scalable, Enterprise APIs If you're building modern APIs with PHP, this combination is seriously powerful. When I started using Symfony with API Platform, I realized something: You don’t just build APIs faster — you build them *properly*. 🔥 Why Symfony + API Platform? 1️⃣ API-First by Default With API Platform, your entities can instantly become fully functional REST or GraphQL APIs. ```php #[ApiResource] class Product { #[ORM\Id] #[ORM\GeneratedValue] #[ORM\Column] private ?int $id = null; #[ORM\Column] private string $name; } ``` That’s it. You automatically get: * GET collection * GET item * POST * PUT / PATCH * DELETE * Swagger / OpenAPI docs * Validation support Minimal code. Maximum power. 2️⃣ Built on Symfony’s Strong Foundation You get: ✔ Dependency Injection ✔ Security (Voters, Roles, Firewalls) ✔ Event System ✔ Messenger (async processing) ✔ Doctrine ORM It’s not just an API generator — it’s enterprise-ready architecture. 3️⃣ Automatic Documentation Swagger UI is generated automatically. Clients and frontend teams can test endpoints instantly. No extra setup. No third-party tool required. 4️⃣ Advanced Features Out of the Box * Pagination * Filtering * Sorting * Serialization groups * Custom operations * DTO support * GraphQL You focus on business logic — not boilerplate. 5️⃣ Perfect for Modern Stack Symfony + API Platform works beautifully with: * React * Vue * Next.js * Mobile apps * Microservices * SaaS platforms It’s truly backend-for-frontend ready. 💡 Biggest Realization Laravel is amazing for rapid development. But Symfony + API Platform feels like: “Let’s build this API the right way from day one.” Clean structure. Strong security. Scalable design. --- If you’re building serious APIs in 2026, this stack deserves your attention. Are you using API Platform already? 👇 #Symfony #APIPlatform #PHP #BackendDevelopment #RESTAPI #GraphQL #WebDevelopment

🤖 Symfony AI 🤖 "With the release of Symfony 7.4 and the maturity of the Symfony AI Initiative, we finally have a first-class citizen for building AI-native applications. While symfony/ai-platform handles the chat models, the real game-changer for business applications is symfony/ai-store. This component is the backbone of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) in PHP. It abstracts the complexity of vector databases - whether you’re using Redis, PostgreSQL (pgvector), or Elasticsearch - into a clean, recognizable Symfony interface." https://lnkd.in/emPx6atq

To the devs using Claude: One change that has significantly improved my workflow is using Claude Code Remote in the browser to work against remote servers and open PRs directly. My setup now looks like this: - Local branch → validation and testing - Remote branches → development and experimentation - Claude → opens the PR when it’s done This keeps my local environment clean and lets me review changes instead of babysitting generation. Another thing I’ve started doing: If I have an idea I don’t want to forget, I kick off a remote job for it. Worst case, I wake up to a half-baked prototype. Best case, I have something concrete to iterate on. Much better than throwing the idea into Notion and never touching it again. Curious how others are structuring Claude workflows.

Most companies get offshore hiring completely wrong. They either: → Refuse to consider it → Or go all-in too fast Here's the framework we use with our clients: STAGE 1: $5-20M Revenue Go lean offshore for speed + cost efficiency → Hire: Backend devs, frontend engineers, QA → Keep in US: Product, founding team, 1-2 senior engineers → Why: You need to move fast and preserve runway → Ratio: 70% offshore / 30% US STAGE 2: $20-100M Revenue Hybrid model - US leadership, offshore execution → Hire offshore: Full engineering teams, DevOps, data engineers → Keep in US: Engineering directors, product managers, architects → Why: You're scaling but need strategic oversight → Ratio: 50% offshore / 50% US STAGE 3: $100M+ Revenue Strategic offshore centers of excellence → Dedicated offshore teams own entire products/features → US focuses on go-to-market, strategy, innovation → Why: You're optimizing for global scale → Ratio: 80% offshore / 20% US The companies that win aren't debating IF they should hire offshore. They're asking WHEN and HOW. What stage is your company at? #TechHiring #StartupGrowth #EngineeringLeadership #RemoteWork #ScalingTeams

iOS Developers For Hire
6K followers
💡 If AI were your junior iOS dev, would you hire it? A recent study grouped coding LLMs into “personalities” that feel oddly familiar: ➡️ Claude Sonnet 4 = the ambitious but bug-prone senior architect ➡️ OpenCoder-8B = the fast, concise rapid prototyper ➡️ GPT-4o = the reliable efficient generalist For iOS developers, this matters. Imagine using a “prototyper” AI to whip up a Swift app demo in record time — but knowing you’ll inherit technical debt later. Or relying on the “generalist” for steady code, while quietly fixing its control-flow mistakes. AI won’t replace us, but like onboarding a new teammate, we need to understand its strengths and quirks. The smartest devs will match the right AI personality to the right task. 👉 Would you let an “AI prototyper” draft your next app feature, or do you trust only the “generalist” to touch production code?

Yesterday at FinistDevs in Brest, I had the pleasure of presenting "Rediscovering PHP: Modern Practices Beyond Legacy" PHP still powers over half of the web, yet many developers remember it from the old days of unscoped includes and global namespace chaos. Times have changed! Whether you code in Java, JavaScript, Go or Rust, PHP deserves a second look. Modern PHP brings: ✨ PHP 8+ features: JIT compilation, union types, attributes, constructor property promotion 🛠️ Robust ecosystem: Composer, Packagist, PSR standards, static analysis (PHPStan/Psalm) 🏗️ Mature frameworks: Symfony and Laravel with solid architectural patterns 🔧 Modern tooling: Docker integration, REST/gRPC APIs, CI/CD pipelines 🌐 Vibrant community: Active open-source projects and cross-pollination with other language communities The goal? Bridge the gap between the PHP community and the wider development world. PHP deserves a spot in every polyglot's toolbox. Slides are now available: https://lnkd.in/eENZtfTq Thanks to the FinistDevs organizers and everyone who attended! 🙏 #PHP #ModernPHP #WebDevelopment #SoftwareEngineering #FinistDevs #Brest #TechTalks

The Rails Foundation announced the recipients of their 2025 Research Grant programme, supporting innovations that will benefit the entire Rails ecosystem. This year's funded projects include: ✔️ Research into advanced database query optimisation techniques ✔️ Development of accessibility testing frameworks for Rails applications ✔️ Investigation of memory consumption patterns in large Rails applications ✔️ Creation of standardised security audit tooling for the Rails ecosystem ✔️ Study of cognitive load reduction in framework design Each project receives funding and mentorship from Rails core team members, with an expectation to open-source all findings and implementations. These grants represent a commitment to sustaining Rails' position as a framework that balances developer productivity with application performance. Progress reports will be published quarterly on the Rails Foundation website, with the first expected in July 2025.

I’ve been wondering why we don't see more people adopting the "shared nothing" model that PHP-FPM uses. Years ago, the argument against it was clear: process scheduling and context switching were expensive. Other languages went the route of shared state and long-lived processes because it was more efficient for things like async I/O. That made sense at the time. But today, context switching is much cheaper than it used to be. Meanwhile, the benefits of the shared nothing model have only become more obvious. The amount of cognitive overhead it removes for a developer is huge. You don't have to worry about memory leaks between requests or state bleeding from one user to another. Every request starts fresh. I think that simplicity is a huge part of why PHP still dominates such a massive portion of the web. I get why people didn't build this way 30 years ago, but I don't really understand why nobody else has tried to offer a similar model in the past 15ish years. There was a great article by Nicolas Grekas recently about how they handled over 1,000 concurrent screens in real-time at SymfonyCon. He showed how stable the PHP-FPM model is, but also acknowledged where it hits a wall (like massive amounts of concurrent connections) and how he handled that specific part differently. It’s a great look at using the right tool for the job without throwing away the simplicity of the shared nothing foundation. The link is here if you haven't seen it: https://lnkd.in/dmqva_SH Does anyone actually know why this architecture isn't more common in other ecosystems? Is there a technical reason I'm missing, or is it just a matter of "that's not how we do things here" or some ego-driven need for what we perceive as "clean architecture" over pragmatism? I'm curious to hear what you think.

After over 6 years of building with React, a few things have been absolute game-changers for me: 1️⃣ TypeScript – it saves time, reduces runtime errors, and gives you cleaner contracts that lead to safer, faster releases. 2️⃣ Loosely coupled reusable components – they keep your codebase clean, prevent duplication, and save teams countless hours of rework. 3️⃣ React Query – after living through DVAJS, Redux Saga, and Redux Toolkit, I can confidently say it takes the pain out of data fetching and state management, making apps (and devs) a lot happier. 4️⃣ Building with accessibility in mind – it’s no longer optional, it’s mandatory here in Romania. Imagine having to comb through legacy code where`
`s were used as buttons, and interactive elements had no proper roles. Fixing that after the fact is painful. Designing with accessibility from the start saves time, ensures compliance, and, more importantly, makes apps usable for everyone. #ReactJS #TypeScript #ReactQuery #WebDevelopment #Accessibility246 Comments -

Symfony 7.4 is on the way — and devs seem pretty excited about it I’ve been reading up on the upcoming Symfony 7.4 LTS release (arriving this November), and even though I’m not a developer myself, it sounds Interesting: ✅ Improvements to the Security Voter system – cleaner, more flexible logic for handling permissions ✅ Updates to Twig, making templates even faster and easier to maintain ✅ Better integration with modern runtimes like FrankenPHP ✅ Continued cleanup of older/deprecated features (RIP XML configs!) From what I understand, this version should bring both performance gains and long-term stability — especially since it’s an LTS release supported until 2029 I’d love to hear from the real experts: What do you think of the Symfony 7.4 updates so far? Any standout changes that developers should know about?

Stop choosing between Performance and Consistency when scaling Symfony. 🚀 If you’ve ever deployed Symfony on Kubernetes or a multi-server setup, you know the struggle with var/cache. Do you keep it local for speed? 🏎️ (But then your app cache is fragmented). Do you mount it on shared storage? 🐢 (But then your I/O latency kills performance). Symfony 7.4 finally solves this architectural headache with the new Share Directory (var/share). I just wrote an article about how this feature decouples your system cache from your application state, allowing you to have: ✅ Blazing fast, local system caches (Container-native) ✅ Consistent, shared application data (NFS/EFS ready) I also cover practical config for Docker & K8s, plus how to move your cache pools to the new directory.
