About The Role
As the Controller, you will oversee the Showbie’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. You will work closely with the existing finance team, leadership, and other cross-functional teams to enhance financial processes, implement internal controls, and support business growth. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong accounting foundation and the ability to provide strategic insights that contribute to the company’s success.
What You'll Do
- Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions, including month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Manage and coordinate regulatory reporting, tax filings, and statutory compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
- Provide variance analysis and insights on financial performance.
- Internal Controls & Compliance
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies and financial procedures.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP/IFRS and best practices in accounting operations.
- Support audit processes and liaise with external auditors as needed.
- Business Partnering & Strategic Support
- Work closely with the VP, Operations and CEO to ensure accurate and timely month-end reporting.
- Collaborate with department leaders to manage budgets and monitor financial performance.
- Support revenue operations by working with Sales and Customer Success teams on financial matters related to contracts, pricing, and revenue recognition.
- Process Improvement & Systems Management
- Optimize financial workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Manage financial systems and ensure proper utilization of accounting and ERP tools (e.g., NetSuite or similar software).
- Assist in financial system implementations and enhancements.
What You Bring
- CPA designation
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years post-CPA
- Prior experience as a Controller or senior accounting role within a SaaS or technology company
- Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional tax environments, intercompany transactions, and consolidations
- Experience with NetSuite or other ERP/accounting systems
- Ability to develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial processes
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with leadership and cross-functional teams
- Highly organized with a hands-on approach and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

This role is based in: Canada (remote).
This role is a permanent full-time position.
The proposed compensation range for this role is: $115,000 - $130,000
