The Role

Come build the AI-first digital signage platform of the future. ScreenCloud is already the leading app for communicating via screens, and now we’re reinventing our core CMS for the best the web can offer in 2025.

Users can integrate with dozens of 3rd parties, produce content of their own directly in the platform, enhance it with AI and other 3rd parties, and of course in time use agents to manage both their content and screen fleets.

You’ll be part of a team wholly responsible for each project it takes on, meaning Product/Design/Dev/QA all in the one team, with full power to shape its project. You’ll also help drive and ensure we strive for technical excellence when it comes to building and maintaining our modern web apps.

And of course being a product for TV screens, the end result is a super visual experience that will keep a curious dev engaged for a long while to come!

Responsibilities

Lead a small cross-functional Engineering team across developers, QA, Design and Product
Own the outcomes for your team, both in shaping & setting goals upfront, then sharing progress and adjusting your plans when needed to ensure the most valuable work finds its way into customer’s hands
Line Management of the Engineers in your team, providing guidance and advice to level up their careers and abilities, with supportive leadership first - be the team’s enabler and champion. How do you take a group of great individuals, and enable them to do their very best work together?
Work with technologies like NextJS, Tailwind, TypeScript, Lambda, Fastify and Postgres
Spend time with other Engineers in the code when it makes sense, writing primarily in TypeScript on Node and deploying to AWS or Vercel to deliver the APIs and infrastructure that power our whole system end to end
Get stuck in with us on prototypes and MVPs to experiment with the constant stream of ideas for where we take digital signage content and management next
Explore our AI prototypes and experiment with how the AI workflows enables can make work lives better for our users every day
Design solutions that reduce complexity and orchestration across independent microservices (including making use of modern cloud native components that can do some of the heavy lifting for you, like hosted event buses and API Gateways)

Requirements

You are a supportive leader and you have experience on leading small teams
You’re open minded about what AI already enables today, and what possibilities it opens up in the future (both good and bad, what we can lean into and what we need to prepare for)
You have demonstrated experience building REST or GraphQL services with TypeScript, and are able to discuss the benefits/tradeoffs of how you design a system
You have worked with cloud providers like AWS and Azure in the past, and can confidently discuss the trade-offs and opportunities in designing real-life systems on these products
You can help lead whiteboard sessions to design new solutions, and discuss the flows of data across those systems
You document your work, ensuring knowledge is readily available for both other members of the team, including the frontend developers hitting your services, but equally for new developers who may come across it many months down the line
You relish the hard work of demonstrating quality through accurate monitoring and alerting, as well as effective logging for when things do go wrong
You understand that the user's experience, both in setting up an app and then seeing it on screen is the north star metric for any work we do
You work best in small teams and deliver the highest quality code when you’re surrounded by great people. You go out of your way to share your knowledge and make difficult concepts understandable for the whole team.

Bonus Skills

Deep knowledge of modern cloud providers like AWS or Azure
Have designed and implemented complex systems from scratch, and are able to draw your designs to review & discuss pros/cons with team mates first
Fundamental knowledge of build and CI pipelines, including how to optimize for scale
Database design and query optimisation on SQL services (We use Postgres)
NoSQL experience with services like DynamoDB and Redis
End to end testing with tools like Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
Modern webapps built on a React framework.
