🌎 What we do

We build software that helps companies along the food system get to Net Zero.

~31% of global GHG emissions originate from food-related activities. For the first time in history, climate performance has become an overall business performance indicator. Enterprises are mandated by regulatory bodies to disclose their climate performance, which leads to increasing pressure from investors, competitors, retailers, and consumers to prevent and reduce their CO2e emissions. Over the next 10 years, companies have set ambitious reduction targets that need to be met. Enterprise software and new business processes can help.

We raised >€10m in funding in the first 2 years of our existence, we launched our enterprise product, signed and onboarded some of the largest F&B players in Europe, and put together what we believe is the best-suited early stage tech team in Europe. Will you be the next to join us? 🚀

🔭 What you will work on

Your mission

Build Root to enable us to triple our current team size (from ~20 to ~60) while maintaining high talent density and stable operations.

Over the next 12 months, you will:

  • Build a high-performance culture:

    • Develop and implement Root’s operating model, emphasizing core values and behaviors to cultivate a strong company culture.

    • Identify and operationalize key traits and behaviors in daily activities to reinforce company values.

    • Enhance employee engagement through initiatives like ESOP, competitive compensation, continuous learning, promotion pathways, and career development opportunities.

  • Oversee and Manage Finance, Ops and HR:

    • Manage all financial operations including payments, invoicing, payroll, internal reporting, and business controls to ensure financial stability and transparency.

    • Oversee HR functions including onboarding, offboarding, contract management, and addressing legal HR issues to maintain a productive and compliant workforce.

    • Streamline operations with efficient tooling and procurement, office management, and organizing company events such as offsites and birthday celebrations.

  • Manage the companys OKR and KPI Management:

    • Continuously build and refine our “Growth Flow” to support organizational development and achieve strategic objectives.

    • Implement and maintain clear KPI tracking across all departments to measure performance and drive data-informed decisions.

    • Plan and execute company-wide OKR cycles, ensuring alignment and progress towards key business goals.

You might be a good fit if:

💬 You likely have around 7+ years of people and/or operations experience in a fast-paced environment.

You also demonstrate the following:

  1. Entrepreneurial spirit:

    • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a startup environment with limited resources

    • Willingness to take initiative and a hands-on approach to problem-solving

  2. Clarity of thought:

    • Ability to reason logically, form sound arguments, and identify flaws in reasoning.

    • Ability to use precise and accurate language to express ideas, avoiding vague or ambiguous terms

  3. Communication skills:

    • Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written

    • Ability to articulate ideas, decisions, or value propositions in a charismatic way

  4. Strategic thinking

    • Ability to define, nurture, and evolve the company culture, ensuring it supports business objectives

    • Skilled at building relationships and influencing key stakeholders, including employees, the executive team, and board members

  5. Experience

    • Have set up an operating model and OKRs for an early stage startup before

    • Have seen and/or have the ability to build
