At Rooser, we’re on a mission to eliminate the world’s seafood waste. For us, this means creating transparency and certainty in what is an incredibly tough industry.

We’re building the world’s first seafood trading platform dedicated to connecting seafood processors with wholesalers.

We want to eradicate the fragmented processes and volatility that plague the industry & get seafood flowing more efficiently through the supply chain. As a perishable product, increased speed means longer shelf life and, ultimately, less waste.

🧭 The role mission

We are looking for a dynamic Finance Manager to lead our end-to-end finance processes and support the Rooser marketplace, which facilitates thousands of monthly transactions between buyers and sellers.

This role is crucial for keeping our current financial processes running smoothly and finding ways to improve how our team functions, including the systems and operations, as we build for scale. We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, thinks strategically, and always looks for ways to make things better today and tomorrow.

🚢 What will you be doing?

  • Manage the key relationships supporting the finance operations function, including partnerships with outsourced accountants and payment solution providers.

  • Oversee the monthly close process and ensure accurate and timely data through monthly management accounts.

  • Enhance financial systems and processes to improve efficiency and insights.

  • Ensure that financial information translates into insightful management reporting that can inform decision-making for the designated audience.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including VAT and Corporation Tax.

  • You hold a professional qualification (CIMA or ACCA) with experience in both public practice and industry, particularly in early-stage or high-growth businesses where the finance function is growing from the ground up.

  • You're hands-on and enjoy being in the details, analysing data, and providing practical solutions.

  • You're motivated by taking ownership of challenges, like building robust reporting infrastructure to deliver actionable insights to the business.

  • You value building relationships. You'll be tasked with managing key partnerships with external providers and internal stakeholders.

  • You want to manage a team from day one; this senior individual contributor role requires you to be very hands-on.

  • You are uncomfortable with rapid change and ambiguity as the business scales. You prefer a steady-state environment over a constantly evolving one.

  • You’re not excited by the startup environment where creating and running processes yourself are essential.

  • Our mission to eliminate seafood waste doesn’t resonate with you. You don’t need to be a seafood enthusiast but we do need people committed to building this business and making a positive difference to an entire industry.
