The People team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of the employee journey at Preply. This includes everything from onboarding and offboarding, compliance, total rewards and benefits, HR systems and analytics, as well as key People projects related to employee engagement, career development and frameworks, amongst others.

In this role you’ll collaborate closely with People Partners, and Legal teams to help us build a compliant, scalable foundation as we grow. From improving lifecycle processes and supporting global audits to advising on labor law alignment and documenting risk areas, you'll play a key role in making sure our People practices are future-ready, fair, and compliant, with an eye toward long-term audit readiness and IPO preparation from a People perspective.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Monitor employment law changes across all company locations (Spain, UK, US, Germany, Ukraine) and support timely updates to policies and practices.

  • Identify potential labor relations or regulatory risks and contribute to mitigation strategies that balance compliance and business needs.

  • Collaborate with People Partners and managers to embed compliant approaches into day-to-day operations, documentation, and employee communications.

  • Assist in drafting, updating, and organizing people policies, handbooks, and audit documentation.

  • Contribute to a scalable, compliant People Operations infrastructure by maintaining up-to-date workflows, playbooks, and lifecycle documentation.

  • Support the global employee lifecycle (onboarding, offboarding, leaves of absence, etc) by ensuring processes are compliant, consistent, and well-documented.

  • Attend meetings and engage external legal advice if needed

What you need to succeed:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Legal Studies, or a related field. With 3+ years of experience in Compliance or Labor Law. A strong orientation in employee relations is a plus.

  • You are proficient in Spanish labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices, with a strong preference for candidates who possess a strong background in ensuring compliance in multiple countries.

  • Experience supporting IPO readiness or public company compliance initiatives is a plus.

  • You have excellent communication skills to effectively guide managers, People Partners, and employees through legal topics and procedures with sound judgment.

  • You have effective problem-solving skills to address complex cases.

  • You are passionate about attention to detail to ensure all cases are meticulously managed and documented.

  • You demonstrate commitment to handling sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and integrity.

  • You have high levels of empathy and ability to enhance accountability, fairness, and adherence to established processes.

  • You are fluent in English, Spanish is a plus.
