Our system identifies 10,000 species using self-sufficient bioacoustics IoT sensors with AI-powered analysis. By integrating earth observation data, we offer real-time insights into ecosystems, helping conservationists, land stewards, and businesses understand and verify their environmental impact.
Join Hula as Firmware Engineer to develop and optimize embedded software for our bioacoustics IoT sensors. You will play a key role not only in optimizing our current technology but also in driving its continuous evolution by introducing new features and advancements over time.

Develop firmware for our BioT platform running ML models at the edge
Optimize real-time processing of environmental sensor data
Collaborate with hardware and ML teams to deploy AI models efficiently
Work directly with senior engineers on core system architecture

📋 Core Responsibilities

Firmware Development & Optimization

Write efficient C/C++/Rust code for our FreeRTOS-based IoT sensor network
Develop efficient algorithms for real-time audio processing and sensor fusion
Create power-optimized firmware features
Implement robust data logging, preprocessing, and transmission mechanisms

Embedded Systems & Hardware Integration

Interface with environmental and acoustic sensors via I2C, SPI, UART, I2S
Integrate low-power wireless communication protocols (LoRa, BLE, LTE-M, NB-IoT)
Implement secure firmware update mechanisms (OTA)

System Performance & Testing

Develop automated testing and validation frameworks for firmware stability
Perform field tests to validate real-world sensor performance
Document development processes, optimizations, and best practices

🎓 Requirements

Background in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science or a related field
2+ years firmware development experience (C/C++, ideally Rust)
Knowledge of FreeRTOS
Understanding of power optimization techniques
Familiarity with embedded AI acceleration is a plus but not required
Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced startup environment
Passion for sustainability, biodiversity, and impactful technology
