🛠️ Your role
We are looking for a Legal Counsel & DPO (part-time 50%) to run Figures’ in-house legal function. Until now, our legal needs have been handled externally — but with larger enterprise clients, more demanding RFPs, and the rise of pay transparency regulations across Europe, we need a dedicated internal expert.
Reporting directly to the VP Finance, you will:
Own contract negotiation with our clients and prospects: review, redline and negotiate MSAs, DPAs, NDAs and security addendums — particularly on complex enterprise deals and RFPs.
Act as our Data Protection Officer (DPO): ensure GDPR compliance across the company, maintain our records of processing, manage data subject requests, lead privacy impact assessments, and be the point of contact for supervisory authorities (CNIL and equivalents).
Support Sales as the legal expert on deals: help close enterprise contracts faster, answer client legal/security questions, and contribute to RFP responses.
Manage our supplier and partner contracts: review and negotiate vendor agreements, sub-processor contracts and partnership agreements.
Keep our contracts aligned with evolving EU legislation and product changes: continuously update our MSAs, DPAs and related templates to reflect new regulations and the evolution of our product features and data flows.
Build scalable legal resources: contract templates, playbooks, internal training, and self-serve tools to help Sales, CS and Finance handle standard situations autonomously.
Liaise with external counsel when specialised expertise is needed (litigation, country-specific topics, etc.).
Profil recherché
5–10 years of experience as an in-house counsel with strong exposure to SaaS / tech B2B contracts and data protection.
Solid expertise in GDPR and EU data protection law; DPO certification (CNIL or equivalent) is a strong plus.
Hands-on experience negotiating commercial contracts (MSAs, DPAs, security schedules) with mid-market and enterprise clients across Europe.
Familiarity with — or genuine curiosity about — HR/compensation regulations, especially the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
Pragmatic and business-minded: you understand that legal is a partner to the business, not a blocker. You find solutions, you don’t just flag risks.
Comfortable working with non-lawyers: you can explain complex topics to Sales, CS, Tech and leadership in a clear, actionable way.
Pragmatic, low-ego, and team-oriented: you thrive in a small team, adjust priorities quickly, and enjoy supporting others.
You are fluent in English (we are building an international team).

You are based in France.
