Job Description

You will be joining a small group of lawyers as part of Docplanner’s Global Legal Team, supporting on strategic legal projects for the group and helping coordinate a team of local in-house lawyers (one in each of Docplanner’s key markets), in a fast-growing international environment. Areas of responsibility (in conjunction with the Global Lawyers):

  • work closely with the Global Senior Legal Counsels to manage and advise on the release of product features or new business lines from a legal/regulatory perspective (ensure compliance with all applicable laws), coordinating local input

  • work closely with the Head of Privacy and the Information Security Team, ensuring compliance with applicable personal data legislation (GDPR, LGPD, KVKK, etc), with the help of local specialists

  • support the Global Legal Team on creating, updating and maintaining Docplanner’s internal controls and policies in areas such as data protection, anti-bribery, and others, and develop/provide internal training as required

  • act as legal business partner to various departments; build strong relationships across the organisation and support the senior management team in strategic initiatives and geographical expansion

  • take responsibility for strategic commercial legal work (for example, contracts for clients, suppliers, partners, website terms and conditions, etc.), with support from local in-house or external counsel

  • support the Chief Legal and Risk Officer and the Global Senior Legal Counsels in the legal aspects of M&A processes, fundraising efforts, and other strategic Corporate projects

  • manage outside counsel and external legal spend across 13 jurisdictions (some international travel may be required from time to time)

  • partner with the Docplanner People Experience Team on strategic employee-related matters requiring legal support

  • manage litigation with support from local counsel

  • manage and foresee business risks and opportunities by regularly reviewing changes in the regulatory/legal environment

Qualifications

  • Qualified lawyer in a major global jurisdiction (EU, UK, US, LatAm)
  • 2+ years’ of experience in the legal profession (indicative only), ideally split between external advisory (generalist preferred, commercial / M&A / IT / IP / data protection welcome) and in-house (tech / high-growth companies experience a plus)

  • fire-starter who can clearly demonstrate ability to be proactive with limited direct supervision and to lead smaller strategic legal projects autonomously

  • quick decision-making with good business judgment (balancing both legal and commercial aspects), oftentimes in ambiguous situations

  • detail-oriented, well-organised and hands-on (i.e. you are ready to draft and review documents personally)

  • ability to handle confidential information in an appropriate and professional manner

  • strong interpersonal skills and a teamplayer

  • highest degree of professional ethics and integrity

  • ready to jump in and “get your hands dirty”

  • full professional proficiency and ability to work in English required (additional European languages a strong plus)
