About the role:

We are building a Platform Engineering organization at CloudTalk, currently with Infrastructure team that might later grow to more teams (e.g. Developer Experience). We are looking for a seasoned Engineering Manager to lead the Infrastructure team and possibly one more team in this space in the future.

What you will do:

• Lead research and development projects that produce new designs, products, and processes, but also maintain current infrastructure
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering and Product Managers to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions
• Define the technical vision and roadmap for the suite of products managed by the team, aligning it with business objectives and industry best practices
• Drive the execution of projects, overseeing the entire development lifecycle from planning to delivery, while maintaining high standards of quality and timely completion
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, progress, and any potential risks or challenges
• Participate in engineering-wide technical designs
• Build, lead and manage a team of talented DevOps engineers on the team providing mentorship, guidance and support to ensure their success
• Hold regular 1:1’s with team members
• Hold regular performance reviews with team members
• Represent the team in engineering meetings
• Measure velocity and improve efficiency for the team
• Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in observability practices to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation
• Drive innovation in engineering processes and strategies

What we are looking for:

• Proven work experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role
• Experience with leading DevOps teams
• Strong technical background
• Detail-oriented with the ability to catch errors which can result in major problems
• Organizational skills for keeping track of various budgets, employees, schedules, and processes simultaneously
• Experience with building SaaS products is a big plus
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills
• Great team player

Nice to have:

• Startup company experience
• Hands-on experience building cloud infrastructures
