Summary:
We are currently seeking an Editor to join our Editorial team. This role is fully remote, with a priority for candidates in North America. If you are local to one of our hubs (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto) you will be expected to be in office minimum two days per week for our Anchor Days.
What your team does:
In the Editorial department, we are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the legal content that powers our platform. We focus on critical areas such as updating our statutory, regulatory, and court rules collections and "Cert" work to ensure our legal materials are current, accurate and high-performing. As we scale, we are implementing infrastructure-level AI and engineering resources to modernize our editorial processes, ensuring we remain the world’s leading provider of cloud-based legal technology.

You are an enthusiastic, well-organized professional who takes pride in the precision of your work. You have a deep interest in the U.S. Court System and legal research, and you’re looking for a role that offers significant room for advancement. You are a "storyteller" who can see the impact of your work on the broader legal system.
What you’ll work on:
On a daily basis, you will be the engine behind our U.S. Court content updates. Your typical day involves:
Analyze and maintain statutes, administrative codes, and cases for an assigned jurisdiction or set of states/countries.
Apply and review case treatment taxonomies, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the collections.
Write and update case headnotes and summaries (digests) where required.
Conduct quality checks on work submitted by other Editors or external contractors.
Identify gaps or issues in the content collection and escalate with appropriate documentation.
Contribute to technical specifications for developers setting up new data pipelines or parsers.
Coordinate with the Content team on prioritization of editorial backlogs.
Use Iceberg (vLex's internal content factory tool) and jurisdiction-specific editorial tools.
What you may have:
A Juris Doctor (JD) or experience as an attorney is highly preferred to ensure familiarity with the U.S. Court System and U.S. Case Law.
Experience with statute editing, proprietary citators, and case analysis.
Soft Skills: A high level of attention to detail and an enthusiastic approach to problem-solving.
Serious bonus points if you have:
AI Knowledge: Experience or a strong interest in learning how to enhance editorial infrastructure using AI.

The expected salary range* for this role is $0 to $0 to $0 USD. There are a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on local currency.*Our salary bands are designed to reflect the range of skills and experience needed for the position and to allow room for growth at Clio. For experienced individuals, we typically hire at or around the midpoint of the band. The top portion of the salary band is reserved for employees who demonstrate sustained high performance and impact at Clio. Those who are new to the role may join below the midpoint and develop their skills over time. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
