Sr. Director of Business Development
As the Sr. Director of Business Development, you will shape the future of our BD function, drive strategic partnerships, and contribute to the growth and success of a market-leading vertical SaaS company in the legal tech industry.
Through your leadership experience and expertise, you will revamp and redefine how Clio approaches BD, ensuring that we elevate the quality and impact of our deals, maximize the benefits of our partnerships, and maintain flexibility and optionality in all key engagements. By implementing a well-articulated and coordinated BD approach, you will be instrumental in driving the growth and success of Clio and transforming the legal experience for all.
What You’ll be Doing:
Centralize and Create BD as a Service Model:
Work closely with respective business leaders to support their BD goals and align BD efforts with overall company objectives.
Create cross-departmental, company-wide strategic growth opportunities.
Coordinate with finance and legal teams to ensure seamless integration of BD efforts into the overall business strategy.
Strategic Partnership Development:
Identify and pursue strategic partnership opportunities that align with Clio's long-term growth plans.
Evaluate potential partnerships, negotiate favourable terms, and structure deals that maximize value for Clio.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth integration and execution of partnership initiatives.
Continuously assess the effectiveness and impact of partnerships to drive ongoing improvements.
Team Leadership and Coordination:
Build and lead a high-performing BD team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members.
Foster cross-functional coordination and communication to ensure alignment across the organization.
Metrics Tracking and Reporting:
Establish robust tracking mechanisms to monitor the progress and outcomes of BD efforts.
Develop comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate BD initiatives and results to key stakeholders.
Analyze data and metrics to derive insights and identify areas for optimization.
Proven experience as a strategic leader in business development, with a track record of success in scaling and expanding businesses.
Strong negotiation and deal structuring skills, with a deep understanding of partnership dynamics in a SaaS environment.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic growth plans and initiatives.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
History of building and coaching high-performing teams who are motivated to do better and think bigger as a result of your leadership
Ability to think and operate at a “strategic level,” but drive execution on a “tactical level” with the willingness to roll up sleeves
Data-driven mindset and highly analytical with the desire and ability to dig into metrics to derive insights and drive decisions
Bonus Points If you have:
Prior experience in centralizing and optimizing BD efforts across an organization is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the legal industry and corresponding network.
